Casino – Goodfellas at Its Best

A casino is not the seedy backroom gambling parlors portrayed in movies but rather large, professional facilities that offer people a safe environment to gamble and watch live entertainment (or at least, that’s what they’re supposed to do). Yes, crime does happen within or around casinos but it’s generally not as prevalent as it is in other public places.

Director Martin Scorsese dials Goodfellas up to 11 in Casino, as mobster Sam “Ace” Rothstein funnels money through the fictional Tangiers hotel he all but runs for his bosses back East. But it’s the dynamic between him and his best friend from back home, Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci), that makes the movie a riveting three hours.

The flashing lights, the slot sounds that resemble coins dropping (even though they don’t anymore) and the oh-so-fun aromas wafting through the ventilation systems all play on the senses to create an environment that makes you feel like you’re in a real casino. These methods are proven to increase gaming in slots, which is why casinos spend a lot of time and effort on them.

In addition to the high-end design of a casino, it is important to have a variety of games. Some of the most popular include slots, roulette and blackjack. In order to provide a comprehensive offering, casinos partner with leading game software providers to ensure their customers have a wide range of choice. This also helps build a casino’s reputation by showing that they are trustworthy and have quality content.
