In our study, we measured players’ enjoyment of slots by asking them to rate how much they enjoyed their experience in a slot machine. We then compared their enjoyment ratings with a psychophysiological measure of reward reactivity and positive affect. The results show that dark flow does not account for a large portion of the variance in players’ enjoyment of slots, while reward reactivity does.
