In Texas Hold’em, the most common form of poker, players make an ante, or “buy-in” bet. Usually this is a dollar or five-dollar bet, determined by the table. Once the players have made their ante, the dealer will deal two cards to each player. After each player receives his or her two cards, they must decide whether to bet, fold, check, or raise their bet.

In many poker variations, players must ante, or place their money into the pot before being dealt their cards. This requirement rotates around the table, so that each player has a turn placing the blind bets. To make sure the blind bets are equal to the amount in the pot, players must take turns making them. Poker hands develop between rounds. The player with the highest hand wins the game! If you’re unsure about the rules of the game, contact your local gambling establishment and get started playing!
